Follow-up Projects
Teachers, librarians, clergy, youth leaders, and other caring adults can follow up after the visit by:
Talking with children about how they can make a positive difference in the world.
Introducing the idea of empathy and imagining what someone else’s life is like.
Finding positive ways, large and small, to interact with other people.
Creating a project (or projects) where children engage in helping other children in crisis.
Having children keep some kind of journal about their experience with their specific project, and how it makes them feel.
Helping children make “freedom pancakes” and sell them at a group bake sale.
